A lot of people think that being vegetarian is synonymous with being healthy.
They think, "If it’s vegetarian, it must be good for me"
But this is not always the case, just think of fast food deep fried chips as an example.
Unfortunately a lot of pre-packaged vegetarian food can be marketed as healthy, but fall short (I’m looking at you *insert anything with Canola Oil*).
It takes a savvy food label reader and a sound knowledge of nutrition to sort the bad from the good snack options.
Certainly not ideal for the everyday Aussie just looking to improve their health.
Fortunately, there are some pre-done foods on the market these days that are simultaneously nutritious, delicious and vegetarian friendly.
Let’s cover some DIY and pre-bought healthy vegetarian snacks for you now.

This is excellent for those who are short on time and can appreciate some simple flavour combinations done right.
Here's how to make an avocado boat for yourself.

- Scoop out a little bit of the flesh (and eat it)
- Add a crack of sea salt and pepper, some lemon juice or apple cider vinegar, olive oil and some optional Nigella seeds

#4 - Chocolate avocado mousse
I suppose it wouldn’t be a real vegetarian snack list if we didn’t throw in some more avocado loving again.
Avocados deserve it though, they are such a great fruit to use in recipes and also have many potential health benefits associated with eating them.
This is a quick and easy dessert tasting snack that you’re sure to love.
You can make it on the spot or prepare a few days-worth in advance.
Blend or mix the following ingredients
- 1 ripe avocado
- 6 tsp of cacao powder
- 2 tablespoons of Maple Syrup or Honey
- ¼ tsp of cinnamon
- A sprinkle of sea salt
Then all you have to do is add some optional extras on top.
Either frozen berries, cacao nibs, hemp seeds or bee pollen would do the job for you.
#5 - Fresh fruit anyone?
We know there’s this prevailing myth that healthy eating has to take ages to prepare, also cost a lot of money and needs to be sourced from some tropical location.
Then finally blessed by monks who practice intermittent fasting.
While that certainly sounds amazing, how about we just stick to the basics for you today?
What could be easier or more satisfying than some fresh, juicy and slightly chilled fruit on a warm day?
Pick whatever is in season, slice and dice and have a nice mix in a bowl.
Then eat it slowly with a fork while you enjoy catching up wth the latest gossip on Super Cubes Facebook page.
The hardest part of fruit prep
We know, we said it was going to be easy, but the hardest part is just deciding which snack to have first!
Then all you need to do after this is rotate through all of these top 5 and start again.
We hope you agree that it can be really simple and easy to get your hands (and mouths) on some healthy vegetarian snacks without having to spend an age in the kitchen.
