How to pre-make your smoothies

If you don't have enough time in the morning to make your smoothies, you might be needing this bit of pre-made smoothie advice below. We have five different options for you to try to help save you time and also, help ensure you stay on track to hit your nutrition goals for the week!

Let’s be honest – most of us don’t have heaps of time in the morning to make a nutritious breakfast or a post-workout snack.

Smoothies are fairly easy to whip up and drink, but what if you want to make it even quicker and easier?

That’s where pre-making your smoothies comes in.

There are several ways that you can pre-make your smoothies, depending on your preferences and how much smoothie time you have spare to make them on the day.

Option 1 - Prep your smoothie ingredients in advance

This is really just getting the first step of smoothie making out of the way in advance.

You might slice up the fruit, measure out the protein powder, and portion out the greens.

If you’re a frozen smoothie lover, you might add all of the ingredients into a container or resealable bag.

That way you can pop it in the freezer until it’s time to blend.

The upside of this is that all you need to do is add the ingredients and blend them up in the morning.

But if you are too time-poor for that, or you want to be even more efficient, keep reading!

Option 2 – Add your ingredients to your blender cup and leave overnight

This is one of my favourite ways to pre-make smoothies for the next day.

It’s particularly helpful if you have ingredients that need a little soak time – think chia seeds or oats.

All you do is add all of your ingredients to your blender cup, and pop it in the fridge.

You might want to mix them first to prevent any ingredients from sticking to the sides or bottom.

Pro tip – this is particularly relevant if you have chia seeds or protein powder added!

When you get up in the morning, simply put your blender cup onto the base, and blend.

Voila – a smoothie is made!

Option 3 – Blend the night before

You’ve gotta love the idea of making your breakfast the night before.

It means that in the morning, all you need to do is eat it – or in a smoothie’s case, drink it!

If your mornings are always a rushed event, this is a good option for you.

Simply add your ingredients, blend them up, and pop your smoothie cup in the fridge overnight.

In the morning, you might like to either stir or shake it up a little before drinking it as it may have settled overnight.

Option 4 – Make your smoothies in batches

If you want to be next-level organised, make 2-3 frozen smoothies up at a time.

That way, you only have to blend once, and you get a couple of meals and/or snacks out of it!

Again, it’s a good idea to stir or shake up the smoothie before drinking, as some ingredients might settle at the bottom.

Option 5 – Use pre-made smoothie cubes!

Who doesn’t love pre-made smoothie cubes?

I must admit I’ve become a big fan!

The best part is that you can use this option by itself, or in conjunction with any of the other options above.
