Can you meal prep for breakfast?

Meal prep doesn't just have to be for your meals throughout the day, it can cover breakfast too as you'll read below. Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day and if you can make it quick, nutritious and healthy you're onto a winner. Below you can learn how to prep your breakfast meals and cover all bases by using Super Cubes. Too easy!

So, the question is, can you meal prep for breakfast?

For the record, meal prepping for breakfast is a definite yes from us here at Super Cubes!

Meal prepping for lunch is also another definite yes!

And, meal prepping for dinner…. well, you get the point.

There are so many fantastic reasons to meal prep from convenience to health and the fact it can help to save you money in the long run.

Obviously we’re going to suggest our smoothies as your meal prep of choice, but you can also meal prep for breakfast with solid meals as well.

Let’s run through the benefits of meal prepping for breakfast for you now.

The convenience

It’s the morning, you have to leave for work in 45 minutes, and in that time, you want to make and eat your breakfast, make yourself a healthy lunch to take and have a shower too.

Oh, and let’s not forget getting dressed into work clothes after having a shower (if you’ve been to the gym too).

Compare this with….

It’s the morning, you have to leave for work in 45 minutes, you pull out your pre-made breakfast, drink it, have a shower, get dressed, put your pre-made lunch into your bag and are on your way with time to spare.

One of them certainly feels a lot less frantic right?

Whilst we know feeling stressed out day after day doesn’t feel great and guess what?

It may have a terrible impact on your digestive function.

Being in a stressed-out state may increase the activation of the sympathetic nervous system and decrease the parasympathetic nervous system activation.

What does that all mean?

It means you’re moving away from the rest and digest part of the nervous system (parasympathetic) and towards the fight and flight part (sympathetic).

Guess which one is more conducive to digesting food (hint for you – parasympathetic).

Healthier food options

Most of us would agree that it is much easier to eat healthier when we are in control of our food.

We can control exactly what goes in and what doesn’t go in.

If you have a delicious, healthy, ready-made breakfast, you’re much less likely to eat fast food on your way to work (not to say that there aren’t some fantastic healthy fast food options out there!).

This means you are in complete control of what is going into your system, no extra sugar or other ingredients that may derail you from achieving your goals.

Dollar, dollar bills y’all

But wait there’s more.

This potential benefit means you can think about spending your hard-earned on other things (no, not junk food, buffet breakfasts or massive burger cheat meals either!).

Prepping your own food is certainly going to cost less than eating out every day and the saving do add up over time.

Meal prepping

Meal prepping can take up a bit of your time planning, shopping and preparing the meals but you end up saving your time when you most need to.

Nothing is stopping you still having a Netflix binge while creating your meals or food for the next days or week.

Here's a tip - just be extra careful with that knife, especially if you’re watching episodes of Wentworth.

Now onto some Super Cubes suggestions if you want to meal prep for your week's breakfasts.

Make multiple smoothies

It’s easy to batch 2 to 5 smoothies at the same time prepping your breakfasts for the week.

To do this you can just double or triple the ingredients in the smoothie recipes you use.

Or if you’re just making it up on the run, throw in 6 or so Super Cubes into your blender, then add in the rest of your ingredients with your liquid of choice up to the maximum level the blender will allow and then pour into your jars for storage or freezing.

You just need to keep 1 or 2 of the smoothies in the fridge and put the rest in the freezer.

Then, when needed, you just need to transfer 1 smoothie from the freezer to the fridge the night before you need it.

Benefits

  • You only have to clean the blender once
  • You only have to prepare once for the week
  • You’ll have an Instagram-worthy fridge and/or freezer
  • If something hits the fan and you have an unexpected crazy week, rest assured, you have some nutrient packed smoothies right there waiting for you

Cons

  • Will need a lot of extra fridge and freezer space as well as spare jars
  • Some people may feel it lacks variety, as you’ll be having the same thing every day
  • A way around this above is adding different toppings to your smoothie everyday
